fun fact about my life: my mom took the bar exam one week after i was born and the bar association refused to give her extra time so that she could use her breast pump and she aced the fucking thing anyways just as a huge “fuck you” to everyone who ever told her not to try balancing a career and a family

Some people on this site seriously make me sit here and think, “What are they thinking?!”

I mean, I’m all up for people believing in what they want, but why in the world are feminists separated by race? I know that not all feminists on here are like that, but why are some? I can’t wrap my mind…

I have no idea why you tagged this antifeminism but here goes. Feminism, especially mainstream, is compromised largely of white middle to upper class women that tend to have their issues presented as issues for all women. Woc face different issues that most likely being addressed within the movement so they splintered and made a more exclusive sub sect of feminism that speaks to their issues. Basically they were treated how feminist treat male feminist; they can join up but their issues aren’t as important so unless they are agreeing with you they dont matter. This isn’t surprising though, not from what I’ve seen.

I understand that woc have to deal with racism and sexism. I’m not saying that they don’t have different things that they go through, but why would feminists of color hate white feminists? or the other way around. I seen a blog that was like “no crackers allowed” or something on their ask box. I just think that’s uncalled for and immature.

Oh, and it was only tagged antifeminism because there are so many antifeminism posts in the feminism tag.

Because some people are just racists

Yes they are. It’s just ironic when they’re complaining about people being racist, but yet they are doing the same thing.

I hate hearing people say that you can’t be a “good wife” unless you do all the cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children, while also having a career. How is that the only way to be a good wife?

My future husband is sure going to be in for a surprise when we’re splitting all of the work evenly. There is no way that I’m going to come home from a tiring shift at work, just as my husband does, and cater him until he goes to bed. I’d rather mow the grass than wash the dishes any day.

end rant.

I once had a guy call me a whiny, bitter feminist because I called him out on his sexism and refused to continue to talk to him.

I have noticed, especially on Tumblr, that there are a wide variety of feminists. Everyone has different beliefs about it and people are arguing over which way is right. Aren’t we all supposed to be in this together?

No because feminism is constructed in a way where there really is no requirement to be one. It has no rules, no widely accepted definition, no policing, hell even the core beliefs are liquid.

I just don’t know why they all argue with each other. They’re supposed to all stand for the same thing. I think that it’s just become something that people throw around too much and it’s become diluted.

Its because its different for everyone, which in this case isn’t good. Every movement needs structure or it gets in its own way. Look at the Civil Rights Movement, it had a strong, uniform philosophy…ya it had its extremists but there was clear distinction between a follower of MLK and a Black Panther. When you do not take measures to police yourself, you get the situation of current feminism

Very true
